Models, Martinis, and a Movie on the Mile
An unprecedented cultural event to mark our citys Bicentennial
Friday, June 15th, 5 pm-Midnight. Bicentennial Park, Downtown Columbus, OH
Columbuss birthday party continues this summer on the picturesque Scioto Mile in downtown
Columbus. Models, Martinis, and a Movie on the Mile will be the must-experience cultural event
of our 200 year history. S.W.A.G.G. Revolution Apparel, Columbus Young Professionals Club,
and the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department have teamed up with Fresh Sole LLC,
Columbus Distributing Co., and Watershed Distillery to put on a one of a kind event to help
benefit the philanthropic and charitable efforts of the Downtown Residents Association of
Columbus and the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.
The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a pre-show social event that includes a red carpet
entrance, live music, concession stands and food trucks, Budweiser products, and a signature
martini cocktail made by our own local Watershed Distillery. As the networking, socializing, and
tasting continue, a first-rate, Columbus-inspired fashion show will begin at 7:00 p.m. You will
see an astounding 60 models sporting fashions from eight top local designers and boutiques
some that you may already know from walking through the Short North, and others that you will
meet for the first time. After the fashion show, the event will transition into Midnight in Paris,
as the Academy Award-winning movie of the same name begins to play on the big stage as part
of the outdoor Movies on the Mile summer series.
The event will also be emceed by a powerful Columbus line-up, namely, Johnny DiLoretto
(former host of FOX 28’s Good Day Columbus), Danielle Elias (10TV News Personality),
Mark Dantzer (DJ and 107.9 radio personality), and Dan Stover and Lex McAllister (both of
Live No Excuses Radio).
The buzz around this event has become palpable around the city. Event organizers are working
tirelessly each day to create a truly special event for the people of our city that will be free to
attend and enjoy, said Derek Grosso, President/CEO of Columbus Young Professionals Club.
I cant even begin to express how excited I am for the boutiques, designers, models, our nonprofit
beneficiaries, sponsors, and every single person in the city of Columbus to experience how
much fun this will be. And most importantly, it will help a couple of amazing organizations that
are doing great things in our city, remarked Branden Givand, President and CEO of
S.W.A.G.G. Revolution Apparel LLC.
This event will be a live, colorful, energetic display of a growing culture of fashion in our city.
The backdrop, Milestone 229 restaurant, incredible fountains, the city skyline, and bridges
spanning the Scioto River is breathtaking, Givand added. After standing on the stage at
Bicentennial Park, and looking out into the cityscape, it really hit me how big this event really is.
I think the thousands coming out for this will remember this event for a very long time.
